Forgiving Grace of God
Humans are born sinful from birth. Unfortunately, in the course of our lives we often become guilty before God through our evil deeds or thoughts. But luckily there is a way out! A way out was given in the Old Testament by God the Father and in the New Testament by Jesus Christ who went to the cross for our sins and rose again.
1. Forgiveness of sins in the Old Testament of the Bible
Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for othe morning, more than watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
Psalms 130,1-8 (ESV)
A short prayer and yet full of great meaning:
- This prayer describes a state of abandonment and fear - hostility from people - pain, or suffering.
- Here in the text it is the consciousness of sin. The worshiper sees himself separated from God by his sin.
- There is so much that accuses me before God! May I hope that he minesupplication heeded?
Psalms 130,3 (ESV)
But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.
I look at his saving, bleeding hands! His sacrifice in my place never I can forget! I will now praise him in adoration at the throne of grace until I see him, the glorious Son of God.
Refrain: Oh, that's wonderful that Jesus should ask about me, since he risked his life for me on the cross. That's wonderful!
This promise is true and tangible. This message has already saved the lives of many people. Come to Jesus the Savior today. He atoned for all our sins on the cross.
