Surprising encounter

According to Luke 2 We accompany Simeon. His name means “hearing.” His place of residence was Jerusalem. His environment, most people partly pious, partly indifferent. The leading circles were stuck in their legal systems. A few still had a quiet hope for the imminent arrival of the Messiah. 1. Prophecy fulfilled There lived a man named Simeon in Jerusalem. He lived according to God's will, was in awe of Him, and waited longingly for the Savior of Israel. What does the LORD your God require of you? Nothing else than that you respect him and always follow his ways, that you love him and serve him with all your heart and with all devotion. Simeon was filled with the Holy Spirit. Through him he knew that he would not die until he saw Christ the Savior. 2. An unplanned encounter Led by the Holy Spirit, he had gone to the temple that day. When Mary and Joseph brought the child in to dedicate him to God. That was Simeon's greatest joy. He took the child in his arms and praised G...

The Christmas story repeats itself every year. From generation to generation.  Is this story known to everyone why people celebrate the birth of Jesus? Is this time just pleasure, commerce and vacation? We go way back to this event. The town of Nazareth became known all over the world. Maria lived there. You read and hear about her. She was a devout believer, obedient and spiritually minded. 1. The unexpected visit The angel Gabriel came from heaven. A sent from God. He delivered the message to Mary. And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.  He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of hi...

Message of Christmas Light

The Advent and Christmas seasons are characterized by many lights: the shopping streets light up. The living room lights up. Even when the Christmas tree is out of fashion, branches are lit with festive warm candlelight. Christmas has to do with light, but unfortunately it is missing in many hearts. And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, . 2 Peter 1:19 (ESV) 1. The prophetic word a light The fulfilled prophecy is the proof of the correctness of the Word of God. Long before the event, prophets prophesied what man's ingenuity could never have foreseen or foretold. Isaiah sees Israel in oppressive darkness, but he says that the time of darkness and hopelessness will come to an end, and announces a great light that will shine brightly upon those who are without hope. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and...

Jesus and Christmas

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” Matthew 2,1-2 (ESV) Many people ask the same question today. Where is he? Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Jesus was King yesterday. He is king today and he will be king tomorrow too. 1. Yesterday Jesus was the „King of Salvation“ When Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, coming from the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples burst out into jubilation. They sang loudly: „Praise be to the king who comes on behalf of the Lord“ He was recognized as a king when he was born. The magicians who came from the east brought him presents and worshiped him. Suddenly there was an innumerable crowd of angels who praised God: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” Luke 2,...
