The prayer of Jabez and God's answer
Between a name index of the Book of Chronicles, there are two luminous Bible verses. Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked. 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 (ESV) A man named Jabez was more respected than his brothers. At his birth, his mother had said, "I bore him in pain," and that is why she named him Jabez. Jabez lived during the time of the Judges, shortly after the conquest of the land of Canaan. During his childhood, he had often heard about the God of Israel, who had freed his ancestors from slavery, rescued them from powerful enemies, and led them to a land of abundance and prosperity. 1.
