Fresh as dew
A clear night is the best condition for dew to form. The blades of grass and leaves cool down quickly. Upon contact with the night air, water droplets form. This process is called condensation. In rainy regions, dew also helps growing plants, but in dry or tropical areas, dew is crucial.
In the desert, plants depend on dew for long periods. Palestine also needs dew, as parts of the country remain almost entirely without rain during the four summer months. During the day, it is very hot. The cool wind from the Mediterranean contributes to the formation of dew. What effect does dew have?
- He quenches the hot, thirsty earth
- He revives, refreshes, and sustains life
1. God's Word about the Dew
The dew that falls from the sky.
May God give you of the dew of heaven and of the fatness of the earth and plenty of grain and wine. Genesis 27:28 (ESV)
Two verses from Moses' song:
2. The Dew of Heaven and We Humans
Then the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the Lord, like showers on the grass, which delay not for a man nor wait for the children of man. Micah 5:7(ESV)
God's word is wonderful. It is unfathomable. One can come to know it and discover its depth. The verse in Micah 5 is very impressive. The people of Israel, scattered to many lands, learn through the prophet Micah that they are very precious.
Even today, Christians, like dew and rain, may refresh the land with words and deeds of love.
To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is! Proverbs 15:23 (ESV)
The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. Isaiah 50:4 (ESV)
Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. Colossians 4:6 (ESV)
The result of our speech is as fresh as dew, refreshing, invigorating and stimulating.
3. God speaks clearly to us humans
The Lord is with us. He says: I will help my people never to turn away from me again! I will gladly meet them again with love. I will give them new life, just as the dew makes the flowers bloom. Then they will blossom like a lily, put down roots like a cedar; grace and strength will be their hallmark. Based on Hosea 14:5-6
The dew from heaven wants to give our lives lasting freshness and take away everything forced and harsh. This silent dew conveys to our lives the power of God to grow and overcome evil. It is also resistance against obstacles.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19,14 (ESV)
