And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philipper 4,19 (ESV)

Let’s look at the example of the Philippians church. According to Philippians 1: 7, this letter is actually a letter of thanks from the apostle for a gift he received in prison. Not only material, but also every lack are meant here: consolation, strength to deal with the lack, charity, etc. We are allowed to spread all these needs before God and he will answer us.

The great helper

Paul calls him “My God.” The Philippians knew a lot about God’s help for Paul. They had seen his struggles and hardships. But they also knew about his answers to prayer.

The Jews wanted to kill Paul in Damascus. They guarded the city gates day and night, but God has made a precaution. His disciples let him down in a basket over the city wall. So he was saved by his opponents. Then there was a disciple named Barnabas who comforted him.

The warranty

“But God will remedy all your want.” The Bible knows many examples of God’s help in the old as well as in the new covenant of the Bible:

Let us think of the oil production of a widow with Elisa, when the debtor wants to take both children as serfs:

Now the wife of one of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord, but the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.” And Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me; what have you in the house?” And she said, “Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.” Then he said, “Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few. Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons and pour into all these vessels. And when one is full, set it aside.” So she went from him and shut the door behind herself and her sons. And as she poured they brought the vessels to her. When the vessels were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another.” Then the oil stopped flowing. She came and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on the rest.”
2. King 4,1-7 (ESV)

Or do we think of the feeding of 5000 people in the New Testament, where 12 baskets were left (Mark 6: 42-44).

God not only gives enough, but abundance, there is always left. If he has not spared his own son, don’t give us everything with him. (according to Romans 8:32)

The Lord, who went to prepare places for us, shouldn’t He also take care of our small needs here on earth?

The never-ending source

“According to his riches in glory.” The Philippians gave of their poverty, but God always gives according to his riches.

In the song of David it says:

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Psalms 23,5 (ESV)

The correct address is: „Christ Jesus“

He also says to us today:

In that day you will pask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. John 16,23 (ESV)

We can come to him with any need. He always has an open ear and gives according to his wealth.

We want to thank him for spiritual and natural blessings and also thank him for the good harvest this year.

According to the leading verse, God will remedy all our shortages according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
