Fit for life

Adventure is mostly associated with young people. But not only the young, but also the older generations have expectations of life.
For example, Moses was 120 years old when he climbed Mount Nebo. When he reached the summit, he saw a wide, beautiful country in front of him. This breathtaking sight must have moved him deeply. He saw with his own eyes what God had promised Israel. Until his death, Moses looked ahead; his faith was firmly based on God’s promises.
And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated. Deuteronomy 34,7 (KJV).
The promises of the Bible
Life with God is adventurous. Sometimes we will climb a mountain and sometimes God will lead us down into the valley. The Bible makes many promises to help us in our lives. What did she promise us?
- Divine Care in Sickness Psalm 41,4
- Never ending blessings. Psalm 133, 3
- Those who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Joel 3,5
Before the world came into being, we were promised eternal life. Titus 1,2 - Deliverance from suffering and pain Revelation 21,4
If we live according to his will and trust him, we will find that any age can be adventurous, whether we are 18 or 80 years old. Let us not rest, but rather tackle something new!
We also climbed many mountains. Will we reach the goal of eternal communion with God?
If we don’t have to die at a younger age, we will get older too. Hardly anyone is 120 years old. But we can and must know whether we will achieve the eternal promised goal in God’s fellowship!
The smart one makes decisions
Moses prays:
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90,12 (ESV)
Billy Graham writes in his book „On the Blessings of the Late Years“
The length of our lives may vary, but ultimately death will overtake us all. Yet Christians receive hope and comfort from God’s Word, which says: „Blessed are those who die in the Lord“ (Revelation 14:13).
Have we already made the final travel preparations? For people whose sins have been washed away by the blood of Jesus, death is not a journey into the unknown, but a coming home to the upper house of the father!
Many years ago the ship „Empress of Ireland“ sank with 130 Salvation Army officers and other passengers. Only 21 of the Christian workers could be saved. Of the 109 people who drowned, not one was wearing a lifebuoy!
The survivors later shared how these brave people, seeing that there weren’t enough lifebuoys, took off their own and put them on others, saying, „I know Jesus, so I can die better than you.“ And so they left into the wet grave.
Jesus throws us the lifebuoy today. Seize him! Can it be the last of every day?
Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
