The journey is the destination

1. Signal from space, little helper at the steering wheel

One still prefers to arrive without detours. A small navigation system is helpful for this. With GPS, this cannot happen to you, says Thomas Baur from the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC).

Thomas Baur is the professional guide on my first tour with electronic navigation aid, which starts in Freudenstadt and leads 60 kilometers through the highs and lows of the Northern Black Forest.

Thomas Baur has attached a PDA to the handlebars of his bike and one to mine. PDAs are pocket computers (Personal Digital Assistants), which are increasingly available with integrated GPS functionality.

2. My experience on the bike path

During our vacation in Lenggries, I took a bike tour to Bad Tölz and back. However, on the way back, despite good signage, I lost my sense of direction. The signposts pointed towards Lenggries. But suddenly, the sign said 2 km to Bad Tölz.

13 kilometers hopelessly lost, 13 kilometers that I now had to cycle back. It was supposed to be a shortcut. The clock showed 8:30 PM. It was getting dark, the battery for the bike light was running low. Now I had to hurry.

If I had had the navigation system on my bike, I would have saved 13 km of detour and would have arrived at my destination in peace. We, too, are on the way that leads to the goal. Let us always have God’s Word as our navigation system for spiritual orientation.

3. Jesus the way to the Father!

He also says to us today, do not be afraid:

Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. mich.
John 14:1-6 (ESV)

4. The faith in Jesus is the only way that leads to the goal.

In order to have a relationship with God, the Bible shows us the way to salvation:

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Romans 10:9-10 (ESV)

It happens not through our own effort or through good works, but solely through faith in the accomplished work of Jesus on the cross. According to Ephesians 2:8-9.

Invite Jesus into your life, recognize what separates you from God, and ask Him for forgiveness, then He will give you new life.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
